CaityElizabethHi, I'm 16.. I need help on a world civilizations project I have. I need info on the inner and outer structures of a typical medieval castle... such as, inner: how many rooms there normally was, what were the names of the rooms (kitchen, dungeon, etc), what were there purposes/importance, where were they located, why... For the outer: what was found outside on the castle, what was the importance (what did it do), where was it located... That is pretty much all I need... I'll be making a 3d model of a castle and this info is vital to construct it.. as well I will be needing 2 pages of notes to describe what things are.. so it would be awsomely great! if anyone could help me out w/ some of this, thank-you!very much!

GordonThere are many differing styles of castle, and no two are the same. It would be impossible for us to describe them in the time and space available here. Your question is too general. You would have to do a bit of studying first to narrow it down, decide first on a region that your castle would be from, then decide whether it would be a big Royal castle, or at which level of the social strata it's owner would be if you were going for something more regional or even local. Go to my page linked below, and compare say Bothwell, with some of the tower houses, and read the article on The Development of Castles on the Info page.Or try http://www.castlewales.com/home.html
and http://www.castles-of-britain.com/index.htm
Alternatively search these forums for 'rooms' or 'moat',or 'defense' there have been numerous similar questions before.
